In the CMS fast lane with Typo3 6.2 LTS
This is Typo3 6.2 LTS
The second Typo3 6 “LTS Release” appeared in March of this year. The abbreviation or addition to the Typo3 CMS version LTS means “Long Term Support” and refers to a longer-term support as known from open source operating systems such as Ubuntu. This means: Necessary updates and error corrections (patches, fixes, bug fixes) will be developed and made available by the Typo3 CMS team for at least the next 3 years (36 months). During the development of Typo3 6.2, the main focus was on stability, modernity and higher productivity. The aim was certainly to make the product competitive for the coming years, as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla & Co are still on the rise. While Typo3 was previously more suitable for more complex web projects, the new development tools and frameworks mean that medium-sized to smaller websites and online platforms can now also be realized under Typo3 with little effort.
High quality standards
Typo3 6.2 LTS is not only a new version with improved user-friendliness, but also a release that is much more performant and even more robust, secure and stable. For example, the file abstraction layer has been adapted and scaled. The old “Fileadmin directory” has disappeared – now it is finally possible to store files on other servers or in the cloud via Typo3. However, this is just one of the new features of the new Typo3 6.2 concept. If you have an older Typo3 installation, you can upgrade it from version 4.5 to 6.2 LTS with the “Smooth Migration” feature in no time at all. In practice, however, the use or development under Typo3 6.2 is initially recommended for new projects, especially if the old release runs more smoothly and can be sufficiently maintained. Thanks to the LTS release, the older versions of Typo3 will now also be supported for some time longer. Find out more on the official Typo3 website.
